The Heart of a Child Fund was established to offer an open forum for parents, family and anyone affected by HLHS.

To ensure we all can come together at the same time The Fund has Created Daily Chat Hours, where if you feel you wish to talk to other members you can log on at the out lined times. Dawn will also be available as often as possible to answer your questions on The Fund and offer support.

This site is Free to Host and Costs The Heart of a Child Fund Nothing but Time and Love to Manage.
WE REQUIRE NO DONATIONS FROM ITS MEMBERS TOWARDS OUR PROJECTS. THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT AND PLEASE DO NOT FEEL YOU SHOULD ASK.

If you do find your passionate about assisting us perhaps you may consider becoming a Volunteer and assist us through Funding through Organising an Event or spreading awareness of this site in your local hospitals and doctors surgery's.
All funds from these events help us cover administration costs, the creation of publicity material and soon to assist parents with HLHS Children amongest other areas.
If you feel you can help do get in touch. But remember there is no obligation to do so. We look forward to hearing from you.

In due course we will also be creating projects we may invite you to join, such as creating memory books, calenders, and any ideas you may have that we can offer to you and your family.

Please Note we are not a Medical Organisation and none of our Staff or Volunteers are qualified to offer Medical Advice or Intervention. Please Consult your own doctor for any medical queries you may have in relation to HLHS or other CHD Conditions. This site is designed only as an informative site into what is currently available to HLHS patients to date. We worked with a variety of Research Sources Such as You Tube to supply the current material available.

Welcome to The Heart of a Child Fund


The Heart of a Child Fund was Established in Memory of Baby Ben who died from Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) in October 2003.

Please assist us in creating awareness of this condition both in Ireland and World Wide. Every Child is different but we at The Fund Believe Every Child has the right to Life and the best possible chances provided to suit their medical needs

After Ben died, Dawn found herself isolated, totally bewildered and clueless to what hypo-plastic was. Her grief took on a strong form of loneliness due to lack of awareness and contact with others who had gone through this. There was literally no one who understood her pain or could answer the million questions she had.

This space was created to allow you, your family and friends join and be part of a group of courageous people that share a common experience.
We encourage you to make friends, share your experiences and most of all support each other when life needs more then just your own individual strength but also strength from those that are also walking a similar path as yours. An most importantly to know your not alone.

Feel Free to Share Your Pictures, Your Videos, Your Written Memory's along with tools that can help those who need your experience.

For any Professionals that work in the area of HLHS, please do feel free to post your experiences, videos and research etc in our Forum Area.

We aim to provide you as many possible resources and us much information as we can through this site. It is made up of links that will connect you directly to other services, organisations and is updated on a regular basis. Our facebook fan page contains more information that is not always included here.

Whats Been Going on at The Fund

Well folks things as always are moving forward and with each day we grow stronger. Sometimes we may not always no the direction we are goin in, our have a specific course to follow, but at The Fund we listen to our hearts and the hearts of our HLHS children and angels.Listening allows us to build on what is needed for them and those that they touch on a daily basis.

Bens Tribute CD to HLHS Children

Dawn has spent the past several months recording a tribute Album to Ben, its called The Heart of a Child. It still needs some work to complete it. Some of the Songs Included on it are

Dawn has done all her own versions of the songs and looks forward to launching it once all aspects of its creation have been completed.

Would you like to include a small picture and tribute to your HLHS Child or HLHS Angel? Please mail dawn on here if you would.

All the proceeds from the sale of this album will go towards a variety of projects, one been an information booklet on hypo to be supplied to as many hospitals as possible.
A tribute book to HLHS Angels will also be created alongest with other projects according to funds we create.

The Artist for this album Unsworth, Nicholas donated his skills and we are grateful to him for his great work.
